Thunder Sign Pair of Pointers

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announced that the team has signed defenseman Kyle Brodie and forward Garrett Ladd after the pair completed their careers with the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Pointers (UW - Stevens Point).

Brodie, 24, started his college career with Bemidji State but eventually transferred to UW - Stevens Point in 2013-14. The Denver, Colorado native played a total of 53 games with the Pointers over the past two seasons scoring 15 goals and adding 29 assists for 44 points.

In addition, the 6'1", 198 lb. defenseman was also named to the First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) for the past two seasons.

Ladd, 25, also began his collegiate career with Bemidji State alongside Brodie in 2010-11 but transferred to UW - Stevens Point a year earlier than his eventual Pointers teammate. In three seasons with UW - Stevens Point, the 5'10, 196 lb. forward played 82 games and put up 35 goals and 54 assists for 89 points.

The Fenton, Michigan native would join Brodie on the First Team All-WIAC for the past two seasons and was named the first ever WIAC Player of the Year in 2013-14 after scoring 40 points in 27 games.

Both Brodie and Ladd come to the Thunder days after falling in the NCAA Division III Championship Game to Trinity (Conn.). It was the second straight year that the pair helped lead the Pointers to the title game.

The Thunder take to the road for games in Ontario and Bakersfield before returning home for the final ever Stockton Thunder home game against the Bakersfield Condors on April 11 at 7:30.
