
Royals Sign Forward Justin Crandall to ATO

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Justin Crandall to an Amateur Tryout Agreement. In a separate transaction also announced today, forward Andrew Johnston was recalled by the Flyers and reassigned to the Phantoms.
Crandall (5'11/189) (22), who hails from Lakeville, Minnesota, just completed his senior season at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he was second on the team with thirteen goals (13g-10a23pts) in thirty-eight games with the Bulldogs. Crandall, who served as an alternate captain this past season with UM-D, was tied for the team lead in goals in his junior season with fourteen (14g-13a27pts). That year, he also led the team in shooting percentage (18.4%), power play goals (6) and plus-minus (+8). In 145 career collegiate games, Crandall recorded seventy-nine points (40g-39a) and 120 penalty minutes with the Bulldogs.
For Johnston, a third year pro from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, this is his second recall to the Phantoms from Reading. He has played eight games this season with Lehigh Valley without registering any points or penalty minutes. In forty-two games with the Royals, he has registered twenty points (6g-14a) and forty-two penalty minutes. He is tied for the team lead amongst forwards on the Royals in plus-minus, playing to a plus-16 (+16) to this stage of the season.
