Thunder Shake up Roster on Black Friday

Wichita, KS (November 29th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League, powered by Toyota, continued to re-tool its line-up and announced several moves this afternoon. The team has signed goaltender David Brown and waived netminder Torrie Jung. Also, defenseman Karl Linden has been traded to the St. Charles Chill for future considerations. Finally, defenseman Jon Madden has been activated off IR. Brown and Madden are expected to be in tonight's line-up against Brampton as the Thunder close out its season-long six-game home-stand.

Brown, 28, comes to Wichita after playing in seven games for the Allen Americans this season. Last year, the Stoney Creek, Ontario native was a part of the Arizona Sundogs organization. In 31 games played, he sported a 2.69 goals against average, went 15-15-1 and a save percentage of .910. A former eighth-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot, 185-pounder faced the Thunder in three playoff games last year, seeing 106 shots, allowed just eight goals, a save percentage of .930 and goals against average of 2.57. He began his pro career in 2007-08 splitting time with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. Brown also played in the CHL with the Quad City Mallards for two seasons winning 31 games over that span.

Prior to turning pro, Brown attended the University of Notre Dame where he had a remarkable collegiate career. He helped the Irish to their first-ever CCHA Regular Season and Mason Cup Championships as well as coming within one game of reaching the Frozen Four during his senior campaign. Brown was named as a 2007 Hobey Baker Award Finalist, 2007 CCHA Player of the Year, 2007 First Team All-CCHA, 2007 CCHA All-Tournament Team and Tournament MVP and was awarded the Lowe's Senior Class Award. Overall, he went 55-38-11 with a goals against average of 2.32 and a save percentage of .916. His goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts (12) are number one in the Notre Dame record books and is second all-time in wins.

Wichita hosts the Brampton Beast at INTRUST Bank Arena at 7:05 p.m. Tonight is the team's annual Toys for Tots Night, where fans can donate a new toy and receive a buy one, get one free voucher good for the Thunder's game on December 5th.
