Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - Behind two goals from Brett Robinson, Quad City earned their first regulation win in 12 meetings against the Thunder, skating away with a 3-1 victory on Saturday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Greger Hanson tallied his sixth goal of the season for Wichita. The Thunder trail the season-series 0-1-1 and will face the Mallards five more times this year.
The lone goal in the first period was scored by Robinson just three minutes into the game. He let a shot go from the left circle and followed up his own rebound to put the Mallards up 1-0.
In the second, Hanson tied the game at one at 9:27 with a beautiful snap shot that beat John Murray to the glove side. The Mallards re-gained the lead at 16:12 as Robinson scored for the second time in the contest.
Quad City padded their lead in the final period when Mike Hellyer caught a pass from Mickey Lang and made it 3-1. Wichita pulled Kevin Regan with two minutes left and had a flurry in front of Murray, but couldn't get the puck past him and fell for the third this season on home-ice.
