Blaze Roll to Win at Tulsa

TULSA - The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, rolled to a 5-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night at BOK Center.

Travis Granbois scored first for the Blaze with 9:09 left in the opening period when he slapped his second rebound attempt in just under the crossbar. Sebastien Trudeau took advantage of a turnover in the slot and whistled in an unassisted goal with 2:12 left in the opening period to put the Blaze ahead 2-0 at the first intermission.

The Blaze made it 3-0 on a power play with 9:25 remaining in the second period as Tyler Gron poked in a rebound at the left post, assisted by Jon Booras and David Gilbert.

The Blaze extended the lead to 4-0 on a wrist shot from the right circle inside the right post by Nicklas Lindberg on assists from Steve Makway and Granbois with 16:00 left in regulation. The Oilers finally scored when Ryan Cramer tallied in traffic at close range assisted by Matt Gingera and Jake Trask with 8:33 left in the third period. Tulsa cut the margin to 4-2 when Gary Steffes scored on a flurry in front of the net assisted by David Beauregard and Michel Beausoleil with 3:52 remaining, but the Blaze sealed the contest with an empty net goal by Granbois assisted by Trudeau with 1:03 left.

Dan Dunn stopped 35 shots for the win, while Ian Keserich took the loss with 30 saves. The Blaze improve to 7-3-1 while the Oilers fall to 6-6-1.
