
Thunder Finishes Week Strong

Wichita Thunder News Release
The Wichita Thunder went 1-1-1 last week, beginning with a 3-2 loss versus Mississippi on Wednesday that culminated in a 15-round shootout. Jesse Bennefield scored both Thunder goals while Marc-Antoine Gelinas was 23 of 25 in regulation and overtime. Both Aaron Davis and Bobby Hughes scored game-saving goals during the 15-round marathon before Louis Dumont netted the eventual game-winner for the RiverKings.
Wichita fell 7-5 to the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday. Wichita trailed by three goals on three different occasions, twice pulling within one. Colorado scored five power play goals in the win. Aaron Davis, Matt Robinson, and AJ Gale combined for three goals and were a collective +9. Mike Looby scored two points for Wichita.
The Thunder bounced back against the Eagles with a 5-3 win at home on Saturday. Five different players accounted for Wichita's goals, while Marc-Antoine Gelinas saved 24 of 27 to earn the win. Jesse Bennefield and Travis Wight each contributed two points. Bennefield, Wight, Troy Schwab, and Bobby Hughes each finished +3. The win snapped a 10-game head-to-head losing streak against the Eagles.
Tetrault Returns
Thunder Captain Daniel Tetrault returned to action on Friday after missing seven games due to an injury. Tetrault had an assist and finished +2 in two games over the weekend.
Robinson Scoring
Left wing Matt Robinson has five goals and eight total points in seven games since joining the Thunder earlier this month. Robinson scored 31 goals in the ECHL last season between Johnstown and Stockton.
Davis Staying Steady
Center Aaron Davis has 11 points in his last 10 games and has at least one point in 11 of 16 games this season.
Gelinas Strong
Goaltender Marc-Antoine Gelinas is 4-1-1 with marks of 1.98 and .931 in six games since joining the Thunder. Gelinas has allowed three or fewer goals in all six of his starts and ranks third in the league with a 2.23 goals against average.
Roster Notes
Jason Goulet has been scratched the last five games with an injury. Center Matt Hubbauer and goaltender Peter Delmas are currently on the 10-Day IR. The Thunder signed enforcer Robin Richards last Wednesday. Richards led the CHL in fighting majors in 2007-08 while playing for the Tulsa Oilers.
Hard-Working Thunder
The Thunder continues to play consistent and disciplined defense. Wichita is averaging only 18.0 PIM per game, sixth fewest in the league. Wichita's 29.0 shots allowed per game are the fifth fewest.
