Gems Announce Promotions for this Saturday

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems Ownership Group announced today that this Saturday's game against the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 p.m. will be known as Guns and Hoses night and feature the Gems annual Teddy Bear Toss promotion. In addition to having Guns and Hoses night along with the Teddy Bear Toss, the Gems will host their first post game jersey auction of the season after the game.

The Guns and Hoses portion of the evening will feature intermission activities that put local policemen up against local firemen to see which department will come out on top. McGruff the Crime Dog is going to be in the building that night to support his team (policemen) and Kettering Medical Center is graciously donating tickets to any active policemen or firefighters that would like to attend the game. Families of the servicemen can call the Gems office at 275-7777 to receive a special discounted ticket price so that they may attend the game as well.

After the Gems score their first goal during Saturday's game, anyone who brings a teddy bear to the game may toss it onto the ice and all of the bears that are collected will be hand delivered to the kids at the Dayton Children's Hospital by all of the Gems players. Also on display that evening in the lobby of the arena will be the Gems decorated Christmas tree that fans can nominate a deserving family to win this season. The Gems will be raffling off an autographed hockey bear that was built at the Build-A-Bear Workshop by some of the Gems players last week, raffle tickets can be purchased the night of the game (Saturday, December 4th).

Following the completion of the game with the Komets, the Gems will host their first of five post game jersey auctions this season. Local auctioneer Jim Tietge will be calling out the prices for the Gems game-worn white jerseys. Winning bidders can have their picture taken with the player whose jersey was purchased. Jerseys will be available to be picked up at the end of the season and the player of the jersey purchased will have already autographed the jersey. The jersey auction will be held in court one inside Hara Arena.

The Gems are undefeated against the Komets this season with a perfect 2-0 record against Fort Wayne. In both Gems victories, they have only yielded one goal against. The Komets enter this week as one of the hottest teams in the CHL having won three in a row. This will be the third of 14 scheduled meetings between the two teams this season.

The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
