November 29, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

CHL Headlines for Monday, November 29

Clash of the Forwards- Two of the hottest scorers in the CHL meet on Tuesday night when the Odessa Jackalopes host the Colorado Eagles in the first regular season meeting between the two high-powered offenses. The Eagles ranks third in the CHL with a 3.69 goals/game average and the Jacks are fourth with a 3.61 goals/game average. The two sizzling starts are Sebastien Thinel of Odessa and Kevin Ulanski of Colorado. Thinel leads the CHL in scoring with 33 points (14-19=33) and has been near unconscious during his current eight-game point streak where he has scored eight goals with 11 assists (six of the eight games have been multiple-point games). Ulanski leads the Eagles with 22 points (10-12=22) and has six goals and two assists in his last five games, includes in his scoring are three game winning goals (leads the league with five GWG's).

Here Come the Komets- Fort Wayne has seemingly turned things around after one of their worst starts in team history by winning three straight games last week and by finding the offense outscoring their opposition 14-8 in those three games (FTW had just 16 goals in their first 11 games of the season). Defenseman Frankie DeAngelis (named Oakley CHL Player of the Week) paced the offense last week with two goals and five assists and his 13 points overall lead all Komets skaters. Fort Wayne is home to Bloomington on Friday and at Dayton on Saturday.

Two-Horse Race- The top two teams in the CHL reside in the Berry Conference with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (16-5-0, 32 points) and the Allen Americans (15-4-0, 30 points) leading the way by double digits (Texas is in third place with 20 points). The ‘Bugs and Americans have done most of their damage away from home as Allen has played 13 of their 19 games away from the Allen Event Center (11-2-0) and the Mudbugs are 9-2-0 away from home. It is no surprise that these two teams ranks first and second in scoring in the league with Bossier-Shreveport scoring 4.14 goals/game and Allen averaging 4.11 goals/game. They also posses the two top power plays with the Mudbugs leading the way at 24.8% and the Americans ranked second at 22.6%.
