Thunder Falls to Oilers

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-1 to the Tulsa Oilers at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Oilers moved in front 3-1 by the end of the second. Tulsa received power play goals less than one minute apart from Dan Reidel at 9:31 and Tyler Butler at 10:03. Wichita cut the lead in half on their first power play of the game at 16:47. Kevin Cooper cut deep in the slot and beat Marty Magers with a backhand shot to the long side of the net. The Oilers went up by two for the second time in the period at 19:51 on a goal from Jake Riddle.

The Oilers broke the game open with two more scores in the third. Jake Riddle netted his second of the night at 3:55 while Tyler Butler popped his second at 13:03.

Ian Keserich took the loss, stopping 37 of 42. Marty Magers earned the win, saving 30 of 31. Wichita converted its lone power play chance while going 3 for 5 on the penalty kill. A crowd of 9,357 attended the game, the second largest in the history of the INTRUST Bank Arena.
