
Thunder fall to Binghamton

(Trenton, NJ)- Yusemiro Petit allowed two runs over seven innings, with 10 strikeouts, to lead the Binghamton Mets to an 8-2 win over the Thunder on Saturday night. The loss was the third straight for Trenton and 7th in the last eight games.
Binghamton (76-57) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st Inning against Trenton starter Ramon Ramirez. After three straight singles to start the game loaded the bases, Ramirez hit 1B Brett Harper with a pitch to force in the first run. DH Josh Pressley followed with a three-run double for a 4-0 lead.
Trenton (60-72) responded with their only two runs off Petit. Four straight singles scored the two runs with Jason Grove and Jake Weber picking up the RBI. But Weber's hit was the last allowed by Petit on the evening. Petit (1-0) retired the 17 batters that he faced in the game. He allowed four singles with no walks in his Double-A debut. The win was his 12th of the year combined between three levels of the Mets Minor League system.
Ramirez settled down to retire 13 of the next 15 batters, but was charged with two more runs in the 5th Inning. Ramirez (4-6) ended the night allowing six runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out seven.
The series concludes on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 PM. Charlie Manning (1-0) starts for Trenton against the Mets' Ken Chenard (9-4). it is the final home game of the season for Trenton.
