Trenton Thunder News Release

(Manchester, NH)- Rob Cosby's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 4-3 win over the Thunder on Tuesday night. In the process, Trenton had only their second "blown save" chance in 21 opportunities this season.

The Thunder (32-17) ran out to a quick 3-0 lead. LF Noah Hall launched a two-run homer off Fisher Cats starter Kurt Isenberg in the 2nd Inning for the lead. CF Matt Carson added a run-scoring single for a 3-0 lead in the 3rd Inning. But Carson's hit was the last of the evening for Trenton. The Thunder had only three baserunners after the 3rd Inning. Isenberg allowed two runs over 7 1/3 innings, but didn't factor in the decision.

Thunder starter Jason Jones blanked New Hampshire (26-21) over the first six innings, thanks in part to four doubleplays. But in the 7th Inning, the Fisher Cats made it a 3-1 game on an RBI single by Ryan Patterson that hit Jones on the backside. After loading the bases, Thunder reliever Kevin Whelan walked Ryan Klosterman and Juan Peralta to force in the tying runs. Jones got a no-decision allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings. Then in the 9th Inning, Klosterman doubled off Scott Patterson with two outs. After an interntional walk, 3B Rob Cosby singled over RF Jamal Strong for the game-winner.

Tracy Thorpe (3-1) earned the victory with 1 2/3 shutout innings. Patterson (2-1) took the loss allowing one run in 2/3 of an inning.

The series continues on Wednesday at 6:35 PM. Tim Lavigne (0-0, 0.00), who has worked 10 shutout innings since coming down from Scranton, gets the start for the Thunder. Yusaku Iriki (0-2, 8.00) goes for New Hampshire.
