New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


Manchester, NH- Kyle Yates, a right-handed starting pitcher for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, is the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 27th. The 5'10", 190 lb. hurler made a pair of starts for the Fisher Cats last week and went 2-0 with nine strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.

In his first start of the week last Monday, the 24-year old struck out six batters and allowed only three hits in eight shutout innings of work to lead New Hampshire to a 1-0 win over the Reading Phillies at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Yates made his second appearance of the week on Sunday in Binghamton, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out three in six shutout innings of work. New Hampshire topped the Mets, 4-0, giving Yates his second win of the week.

Kyle was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Texas.

Yates becomes the second Fisher Cats' pitcher to win the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week award this season. Right-hander Jesse Litsch was honored for the week ending April 29.
