Stockton, Calif. - Opening the Western Conference Quarterfinals on the road, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 3-2 to the Stockton Thunder tonight in overtime. Stockton now holds the one-game advantage as the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs' best-of-seven first round kicks off for both teams.

Just 3:22 into the first, Wranglers center Geoff Paukovich scored on Thunder goaltender Olivier Roy to put Las Vegas on the board. The 1-0 lead carried over into the second, and as a Vegas power play expired, Wranglers defenseman Matt Campanale hit the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage midway through the period. After 40 minutes, Stockton held the 21-20 shot advantage.

Three minutes into the third, Thunder center Harrison Reed cut the Wranglers' lead in half, making it a 2-1 game. Two minutes later, the game was tied 2-2 off the stick of Thunder defenseman Shawn Boutin. The knotted game held through regulation, and less than four minutes in, Thunder left wing Matt Bergland beat Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon for the 3-2 victory in Game 1 of the series.
