Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA- The Reading Royals of the, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, won Game Two of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup with the Greenville Road Warriors, 4-0, at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Royals lead the series two games to none.
For the second consecutive night, goaltender Riley Gill was perfect stopping all twenty-seven shots he faced to record the eighth playoff shutout in Royals' team history. The Royals got four goals from four different players, including Alex Berry, who broke a power play drought for the Royals with a PPG 2:30 into the second on a blast out of the left circle that proved to be the game winner. Stan Galiev added some insurance with 3:13 left in the second with his first pro playoff goal on a low bullet from the top of the right circle. Early in the third, the Royals got back-to-back goals by Nikita Kashirsky and T.J Syner to chase goaltender Connor Knapp (26/30 in 43:21). Greenville's Garret Bartus come on in substitution and made all six stops he face down the stretch; but the Royals were more focused at that point of stretching Gill's shutout streak to 128:08.
The Royals and Road Warriors face off in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday (April 10 @7:00 pm) at BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina.
