(Trenton, NJ)- Aarom Baldiris' single in the 10th Inning scored Matt Carson to give the Trenton Thunder a 4-3 win over Harrisburg in Eastern League play on Saturday night. The win snapped Trenton's three-game losing streak.
In the 10th Inning, Trenton started the winning rally with a one-out single by C. P.J. Pilittereoff Senators reliever Jeremy Plexico. After CF Matt Carson singled, pinch-runner Juan Francia was picked off 2nd Base threatening to end the rally. But Baldiris followed with a sharp single to left scoring Carson with the winning run. Plexico (0-3) took the loss, his second of the year to Trenton. Thunder reliever Gerardo Casadiego (2-1) worked one scoreless inning for the win.
The Thunder (25-13) jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to sacrifice flies from 2B Gabe Lopez in the 2nd and 4th Innings. The lead went to 3-0 in the 5th Inning on an RBI single by Pilittere. Meanwhile, Thunder starter Tim Lavigne worked five shutout innings in his Trenton debut. He struck out five with no walks. Harrisburg (11-29) tied the game at 3-3 off Michael Gardner. The Senators loaded the bases with two outs before a wild pitch and a two-run double by 1B Josh Whitesell plated the tying runs.
The series concludes on Sunday at 1:05 PM. Jeff Marquez (5-2, 2.06) starts for Trenton against Harrisburg's Beltran Perez (3-2, 5.59).
