Thunder Announce Captains

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder today announced their team captain and two alternates for the 2003-04 season.

Wichita's newest player, NHL veteran Mark Kolesar will where the "C". Kolesar, who played 29 career games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, joined the Thunder last Thursday, after spending the last five seasons playing in Europe.

Newcomer Trevor Allman and veteran center Travis Clayton will serve as assistant captains this season. Allman, the Odessa Jackalopes Team MVP in 2002, spent last season with the ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots.

Clayton, meanwhile, is set to begin his seventh straight season with the Thunder. He is the franchise's all-time leader in assists (274), points (461) and games played (388).

"All three of these players are tremendous assets to the organization", said Thunder head coach Derek Laxdal. "I am fully confident that that they will lead this team by example both on and off the ice."

The Thunder will begin the regular season with a pair of home games this Friday versus the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and this Saturday versus the Tulsa Oilers. Both games will face-off at 7:30 p.m.
