Thunder add RHP Scott Patterson for Finals

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the N.Y. Yankees, announced today that RHP Scott Patterson has been transferred to Trenton from Scranton-Wilkes/Barre (Triple-A). RHP Eric Wordekemper has been assigned to the roster of the Tampa Yankees (High-A).

Patterson pitched in one regular season game for Scranton-Wilkes/Barre. He tossed three shutout innings and recorded one strikeout in his lone appearance at Pawtucket on September 1st. He did not appear in the International League playoffs for Scranton-Wilkes/Barre. He was promoted on August 30th after spending almost the entire season with Trenton. In Trenton, he had a 4-2 record and a 1.09 ERA in 43 games, including three starts. He also recorded two saves. Patterson struck out 91 and walked only 15 in 74.1 IP this season for Trenton. Opponents only hit .170 against him. At Waterfront Park, Patterson only allowed two earned runs in 22 appearances. During 2006, Patterson went 0-1 for Trenton in 26 games with a 2.33 ERA. He was signed by the Yankees in June of 2006.

Wordekemper appeared in one regular season for Trenton after his call-up from Tampa on September 2nd. He pitched one shutout inning against New Hampshire and recorded a save on September 2nd. Wordekemper appeared in Game #4 of the Northern Division Championship Series against Portland on September 8th. In the 8th inning of the series-clinching victory, he tossed one shutout inning and struck out two. He went 2-0 for Tampa with a 0.57 ERA and 33 saves. He converted 33 saves in 35 opportunities. He appeared in 43 games and opponents only hit .223 against him in the Florida State League. Wordekemper was a 46th round selection by the Yankees in the 2005 draft from Creighton University.

Trenton opens up the Eastern League Championship Series against the Akron Aeros, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, tonight at Waterfront Park. Game time is 6:05 p.m. RHP Tyler Clippard (9-4, 4.90 w/TRE, SWB & NYY) starts for Trenton against Akron RHP Adam Miller (5-4, 4.82 w/ Buffalo).
