ALTOONA- Greensons Baseball LP, which owns and operates the Altoona Curve (AA/Eastern League), State College Spikes (A/New York-Penn League) and Myrtle Beach Pelicans (A/Carolina League), today announced the promotions of three members of the Curve's front office staff.
Curve Assistant General Manager Jeff Garner has been promoted to the position of Associate General Manager, Director of Ticket Sales Derek Martin has been promoted to Assistant General Manager/Ticket Sales for the Curve's sister franchise, the Myrtle Beach (SC) Pelicans, and Denny Watson, who has served as a Curve Ticket Account Representative for the past two seasons, has been elevated to replace Martin as Curve Director of Ticket Sales.
"We are very proud of the jobs that Jeff, Derek and Denny have done not only in their everyday duties with the organization, but in becoming popular faces at the ballpark and in the community," said Curve General Manager Todd Parnell. "As our three-team organization continues to grow, more opportunities will continue to be created for talented members of our staff and we're excited to continue to reward those folks for their commitment to making each team successful and to advance them in their careers."
Garner recently completed his fifth season with the Curve and his second as the club's Assistant General Manager. In his role as Associate GM, he will take a greater role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Curve, alongside General Manager Todd Parnell. A 30-year old native of York, PA, Garner began his career in professional baseball in 2000 with the Delmarva Shorebirds of the Class-A South Atlantic League, serving as a Corporate Sales Executive for three seasons. He is a 1999 graduate of Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh with a degree in business administration.
Martin has spent five seasons in the Curve's Ticket and Group Sales Department and served as the club's Director of Ticket Sales for the first time during the 2007 season. Prior to his appointment as Director of Ticket Sales, Derek spent the 2006 season as Associate Director of Ticket Sales. He first joined the Curve in Fall 2002 as a Ticket Account Manager. Martin, 27, is a native of Clarion, PA and graduated from Slippery Rock University in May 2002 with a degree in sports management and a minor in business. He got his first taste of minor league baseball during the 2001 season, when he interned with the Eastern League's Reading Phillies.
Watson has been a Ticket Account Representative for the Curve since joining the team in October 2005. In his new role as Director of Ticket Sales, he will oversee the club's regional ticketing and group sales efforts. Prior to joining the Curve, Denny spent two seasons working for the Atlantic City Surf of the independent Atlantic League. A graduate of North Hills High School in Pittsburgh, the 25-year-old attended the University of Pennsylvania and earned a degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaelogy.
