Three Unanswered Goals Push Musketeers Past Lancers, 3-2

Sioux City, IA - The Omaha Lancers were edged by the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center by a final score of 3-2.

In the first period, Tyler Carpenter (3:10) opened up the scoring for the Lancers. Jan Kern passed the puck to Carpenter who then ripped the puck from the slot past Ben Kraws. Late in the period and on the power-play, Bryce Brodzinski (18:46) got the Lancers ahead by two goals. Brendan Furry was called on the assist earning his 7th point in 5 games.

The Musketeers went on the attack scoring two power-play goals in the second period, then an early goal in the third period. All of Sioux City's goals were scored by Bobby Brink. The Lancers pulled Akira Schmid for the extra attacker in the final frame, but could not get the puck past Kraws. Sioux City edged Omaha by a final score of 3-2. In his first game as a Lancers, Schmid stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced. The Lancers are now 4-6-0-1 and sit at 7th place in the USHL Western Conference with 9 points.

The Lancers return to the ice on Tuesday, November 6th to face off against the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, NE. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm. All of the action can be heard on the Lancers flagship station KOIL Newstalk 1290 AM and seen on HockeyTV.
