Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Flying Aces fall to Youngstown, 4-1, in the second of three games in the weekend series against the Phantoms. Central Illinois got on the board first, but Youngstown was able to strike back when the Flying Aces ran into penalty trouble.

At 13:47 in the first, Cal Kiefiuk (Macomb, Mich.) won a face-off to the wall, and Max Ellis (Canton, Mich.) won the board battle to get the puck back to Kiefiuk. Kiefiuk passed to Jeremy Davidson (Schoolcraft, Mich.) in the slot where he one-timed the puck into the back of the net to get the Aces on the board first.

The Phantoms tied the game at 4:13 in the second when a shot from Brett Murray went off a Flying Aces player's stick in the crease to sneak past the goaltender.

At 7:31 in the second, the Phantoms won a face-off and Jack Malone received the puck in the slot where he scored through a net-front screen to take the lead, 2-1, for Youngstown.

The Phantoms extended their lead to 3-1 at 19:24 in the second when Joseph Abate corralled a loose rebound in front of the net to score.

Malone scored for Youngstown at 3:55 in the third on the power play to make it 4-1 after some tic-tac-toe passing through the slot.

This was only the second time this season that the Aces had failed to score at least three goals. With their goal, the Aces are tied for most goals scored in the Eastern Conference.

The team finishes their three-game road trip against Youngstown with a morning game on Monday. They travel to Dubuque for a match against the Fighting Saints on November 9 before finally returning home on November 10 for Salute to Service Night.

Season tickets and Mini Plans for the 2018-19 season are on sale now. For tickets or more information, call the Flying Aces at 309-434-2980 or visit www.flyingaceshockey.com.
