Three-Run Sixth Boosts Birds to Victory over Astros

LILLINGTON, N.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans snapped an eight-game skid head-to-head against the Buies Creek Astros on Saturday with a 4-2 win from Jim Perry Stadium.

With the Astros (49-37, 12-5) leading 2-0 in the sixth inning, the Pelicans (40-47, 6-11) fought back, grabbing their first lead since the opening game of the series on Wednesday. Jhonny Pereda , who went 2-for-4, ripped an RBI single against Buies Creek reliever Hector Perez (3-3), scoring Andruw Monasterio before Aramis Ademan came home on a wild pitch to tie the game. P.J. Higgins gave the Birds the 3-2 lead with an RBI single to right, plating Pereda.

In the ninth inning, Wladimir Galindo crushed a solo home run to right field, his fourth on the season, to give the Birds a 4-2 lead. It was the Pelicans' first home run in 17 games.

The Astros struck first in the bottom of the third. Following a single from Carlos Canelon and a double from Jonathan Arauz, Jacob Meyers bashed a two-run single up the middle to give Buies Creek a 2-0 advantage.

Bryan Hudson (5-7) earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.2 innings while striking out three and walking three. Jhon Romero earned his seventh save of the season by recording the final five outs of the game.
