The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-INF Austin Upshaw has been assigned to Low-A South Bend from Myrtle Beach.

-INF Jared Young has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Low-A South Bend. He will wear No. 3.

Upshaw has played in 72 games with Myrtle Beach, batting .203 with eight doubles, two triples, two home runs and 15 RBIs. A native of Buford, Ga., Upshaw hit .292/.337/.407 with 12 doubles, one triple, four homers and 37 RBIs between Rookie-level Mesa and Low-A South Bend in 2017. He was selected by the Cubs in the 13th round of the 2017 draft out of Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

Young spent 69 games with South Bend, where hit slashed .313/.368/.525 with 13 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs and 53 RBIs. The native of Prince George, British Columbia earned the Cubs' Minor League Player of the Month award for June, when he hit .340 with five homers and 27 RBIs, tied for the most in the Midwest League (.963 OPS). Young compiled 39 games with Short Season Class A Eugene last season, when he posted a .257/.311/.336 batting line with six doubles, one triple, one homer and 15 RBIs. He was drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2017 draft out of Old Dominion University in Virginia.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 24 active players, with four players on the disabled list.
