Oklahoma City Comets News Release
The Oklahoma RedHawks rallied with a three-run ninth inning on Sunday afternoon to beat Omaha 4-2 and complete a four-game sweep of the Royals at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The RedHawks (31-32) are one game under .500 for the first time since April 20, when they were 7-8.
Oklahoma's rally was spurred by a throwing error by reliever Joe Nelson, who also allowed the game-winning homer on Saturday. Nelson fielded Jason Hart's sacrifice bunt with two runners on base in Sunday's ninth, but slipped and three the ball down the right field line, scoring two runs. Hart subsequently scored on Jamie Burke's sacrifice fly.
Omaha reliever Donovan Osborne had allowed the first two hitters to reach in the ninth, so he took the loss in his first game with the Royals.
Former Royal Ryan Bukvich (1-2) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
Oklahoma pitching did not allow a run after starter Nick Masset allowed a pair of runs in the first.
Omaha drops to 25-38.
The RedHawks continue this 12-game trip on Monday with the series opener in Memphis. Game time is 7:10 p.m. CDT.
