Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Binghamton Mets, up by three runs early, saw the Harrisburg Senators come back for a 6-4, 12-inning victory at NYSEG Stadium Saturday. The loss evens up the series at a game apiece and snaps Binghamton's two-game win streak.

Binghamton (23-33) opened the scoring in the fourth when Michel Abreu led off with a double and was driven home by Jay Caligiuri's single. The B-Mets got two more in the fifth, which began with Yunir Garcia's leadoff walk. After Miguel Pinango bunted him to second, Wilson Batista was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved into scoring position on Ray Navarrete's groundout before Jorge Padilla brought them both home with a two-run single to left for a 3-0 B-Mets lead.

However, Harrisburg (28-27) was able to pull within one in the sixth on an RBI single by Kory Casto followed by Prentice Redman's run-scoring double. Casto tied the game in the ninth with an RBI single through the right side.

The Senators got four straight one-out hits off B-Mets reliever Ivan Maldonado (2-2) in the 12th, with Rich Lane's double driving in two. Melvin Dorta brought in another run with a single for a 6-3 Harrisburg advantage.

In the bottom of the 12th, pinch-hitter Mike DiFelice laced a one-out single to left off Dan Kolb (3-1) before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Padilla then reached on a two-base throwing error by the third baseman Casto, scoring DiFelice. After Michel Abreu followed with a single, putting runners at the corners, Gerald Plexico came on to strike out Jonathan Slack before getting Bobby Malek to hit into a game-ending fielder's choice. Plexico picked up his first save. Sunday, the B-Mets play the rubber game of their three-game set with the Harrisburg Senators. Bryan Edwards (1-4, 5.11) gets the ball for Binghamton against Justin Echols (3-2, 4.47) of Harrisburg. Game time is 1:30 from NYSEG Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 1:15 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
