Manchester, NH- OF Maikel Jova was sent from the Fisher Cats to the Triple-A Syracuse SkyChiefs today. No corresponding roster move was made in New Hampshire so their roster currently sits at 22 players, one below the maximum.
The 25-year-old Jova was hitting .192 with 14 RBI in 31 games with the Fisher Cats this season. He has not hit a home run this season in 120 at bats. His last homer came on June 22, 2005 vs. Erie, a span of 248 at bats. He entered this season as the Fisher Cats all-time leader in games (219), hits (228), RBI (95), and doubles (48). The native of Cuba was originally signed by the Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent on August 21, 1999.
The Fisher Cats are in Altoona, PA today for a doubleheader against the Altoona Curve (Pirates) at Blair County Ballpark beginning at 6:05 PM. Last night's scheduled game between the teams was postponed due to rain. New Hampshire returns home to Merchantsauto.com Stadium to begin a six game homestand on Tuesday, June 6 at 6:35 PM to take on the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers).
