
Three Quakes Players Called to United States U17 National Team for Concacaf U17 Championship

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes have had three players called to the United States U17 National Team ahead of the Concacaf U17 Championship, set for Feb. 11-26 in Guatemala. Earthquakes midfielder Cruz Medina and Quakes Academy players Oscar Verhoeven and Edwyn Mendoza are among 20 players chosen to compete for the U.S. as they pursuit qualification for the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup. San Jose is the most represented club on the roster.
The U.S. was drawn into Group F and kicks off the competition against Barbados on Saturday, Feb. 11, takes on Trinidad and Tobago on Monday, Feb. 13, and closes the group stage against regional rival Canada on Wednesday, Feb. 15. All three of the USA's group stage matches are set for 5 p.m. PT.
The top three finishers in the four groups will advance to the Round of 16 and join the four teams already qualified for the knockout round: Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua. From there, the teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the four semifinalists qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup.
