Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (July 20, 2008) - The Brockton Rox won for the third straight game with a 7-4 win over the Sussex Skyhawks on Sunday afternoon at Campanelli Stadium. LF Dennis Abreu extended his hitting streak to 21 games and RHP Wayne Lundgren improved to 5-2 on the season.

1B Jason Colson drove in a pair with a two-out, bases loaded double in the third inning to put the Rox out in front to stay. Sussex clawed back to within one on LF Alex Frazier's solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, but Brockton pushed the lead to 5-1 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. C Lee Rubin started the Rox three-run fourth inning with his first career triple. He scored on the next play when CF Eugene Julien hit a line drive to centerfield which was lost in the sun by Sussex CF Ron Perodin. The next batter, SS Dominic Ramos drove in Julien and then scored himself two plays later on Abreu's RBI single.

Brockton scored once in the sixth and seventh innings and Sussex scored once in the eighth and ninth frames. Lundgren allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings and struck out a season-high nine batters in the win. The Rox saddled Sussex RHP Kyle Ruwe with his third straight loss, and beat him for the first time in three chances this season.

Prior to the game, two members of the inaugural class of the Topps Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame were inducted when the plaques of Lenny Merullo and Buzz Bowers were unveiled in a ceremony in front of the stadium.

The Rox have a day off on Monday before they host the Nashua Pride for a three-game series at Campanelli Stadium from Tuesday through Thursday. Tuesday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
