Three Homers in Game One Victory for Sea Dogs, But Game Two Suspended

MANCHESTER, NH - The Portland Sea Dogs took game one over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 9-4, powered by three home runs hit by Hudson Potts, Ronaldo Hernandez and Ryan Fitzgerald. The second game of the doubleheader was suspended in the top of the fourth inning tied, 3-3. The date that it will be continued will be announced at a later time.

In the first game, the Sea Dogs plated five runs in the top of the second inning. Joey Meneses led off with a double to left field. Hudson Potts then blasted his fourth homer of the season to left field and Portland led, 2-0. Ronaldo Herandnez then singled and moved to second on a wild pitch by Simeon Woods Richardson. Grant Williams hit an RBI single to left field, extending Portland's lead, 3-0. Jeisson Rosario then reached base on an infield single to the left of the pitcher's mound. Williams and Rosario came home to score on a two-run double down the right field line by Pedro Castellanos and the Sea Dogs led, 5-0.

In the top of the third inning, Meneses reached on his second hit of the night, a single to left field and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Fitzgerald. Portland led 6-0 after the third inning.

The Fisher Cats plated their first run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Back-to-back doubles by Chavez Young and Vinny Capra drove home the first run for the Fisher Cats and they were on the board, 6-1.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Fisher Cats loaded the bases with two outs. Vinny Capra then hit a bases clearing triple, but the Sea Dogs continued to lead, 6-4.

Ronaldo Hernandez and Ryan Fitzgerald hit back-to-back home runs for Portland in the top of the seventh inning, extending Portland's lead, 9-4.

Kutter Crawford started the game for the Sea Dogs and tossed 4.1 innings allowing one run on three hits while walking one. He struck out seven batters, tying a season high. Durbin Feltman earned the win tossing 0.2 perfect inning. Simeon Woods Richardson was given the loss pitching 3.0 innings allowing six runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out one.

In game two of the doubleheader with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, the Fisher Cats plated three runs on four hits. Samad Taylor reached on a leadoff single to right field. Then three-straight hits by LJ Talley, Vinny Capra and Kevin Vicuna put the Fisher Cats ahead 3-0 after the first inning.

In the top of the second inning with one-out, Ronaldo Hernandez singled to right field. Ryan Fitzgerald then hit a home run to right field and Portland was on the board, 3-2. Fitzgerald now has seven home runs this season.

The Sea Dogs tied the game in the top of the third inning with two outs. Triston Casas drew a walk then moved to second on a single by Joey Meneses. Hudson Potts then hit an RBI single to left field and the game was tied, 3-3.

The second game of the doubleheader was then suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to inclement weather. The date and time to finish the game is TBD.

The Sea Dogs have an off day tomorrow before returning to Hadlock Field on Tuesday, July 6 to face the Hartford Yard Goats at 6:00pm.
