New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, N.H. - Vinny Capra went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and four RBI, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) fell 9-4 to the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. The second game was suspended due to rain after three innings with New Hampshire and Portland tied at 3-3. The game will be completed at a later date.
Portland (28-23) jumped on New Hampshire starter Simeon Woods Richardson (L, 2-2) for five runs on seven hits in the top of the second inning to take an early lead. Hudson Potts hit a two-run homer, Grant Williams had an RBI single, and Pedro Castellanos drove in two more with a double. Trailing 6-0 after a sacrifice fly by Ryan Fitzgerald, the Fisher Cats scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on consecutive doubles by Chavez Young and Vinny Capra.
In the sixth, New Hampshire (23-28) loaded the bases on a single by Samad Taylor, a single by Otto Lopez, and an error ahead of Capra's three-run triple that made it 6-4. Portland responded with back-to-back homers by Ronaldo Hernandez and Ryan Fitzgerald for three runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Durbin Feltman (W, 4-0) earned the win in relief and Seth Blair notched his first save for the Sea Dogs.
In the suspended game, Capra continued his hot hitting, delivering one of three two-out RBI hits for a 3-0 lead. Taylor singled, and scored on single by LJ Talley. Capra doubled, plating Talley. Kevin Vicuña followed with an RBI double.
Portland made it 3-2 in the top of the second inning when Fitzgerald hit his second homer of the day, a two-run shot after a single by Hernandez. They tied the game the next inning on a two-out RBI single by Potts before the rain brought a halt to the action.
