Three-goal third period improves team to 9-3

The Mississippi RiverKings scored three times in the final period to defeat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tonight 4-2 at the DeSoto Civic Center.

With 12:08 remaining, Ryan Held scored his sixth goal of the season on a power play line rush to make it a 2-2 game. Then with 1:09 remaining, Chad Woollard scored his second of the night and seventh of the year on a wrister from the high slot that went through the body of Ken Carroll and into the net.

Held added an empty-netter for his second of the game with 33 seconds left.

Ryan Campbell had three assists and Sebastien Centomo made 28 saves for the RiverKings, who improved to 9-3 on the season. Carroll made 34 stops for the Mudbugs, who dropped to 4-6-1 on the year.

Halfway through the season series, the RiverKings lead the Mudbugs 4-2. The teams will not play each other again until Jan. 5 in Bossier Ciry.

The RiverKings hit the road next week for a pair. They visit the Oklahoma City Blazers on Wednesday and the Wichita Thunder on Friday. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
