Three-Goal Third Lifts Raiders To Win Over 'Canes

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (29-25-9-2) continued their hot streak with a 4-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes (32-26-6-0) on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Raiders have now won six straight games. Coupled with a loss by the Saskatoon Blades, the Raiders moved four points ahead of their rivals in the race for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Midway through the first, the Hurricanes opened the scoring. Dylan Cozens buried a pass from the behind the net courtesy of Taylor Ross to give Lethbridge the lead 1-0 after the first period.

The scoring could've been different after the first period if not for Hurricanes goaltender Logan Flodell. The former Swift Current Bronco made 14 saves in the first period, including a couple of 10-bell efforts in tight.

The Raiders broke through in the second period. Brayden Pachal weaved through the offensive zone and snapped a wrister past Flodell to make it a 1-1 game after 40 minutes.

In the third, two goals in less than a minute broke the game open for the Raiders. On a power play, Vojtech Budik's shot from the point found its way through traffic and Flodell to put the Raiders ahead 2-1. It was Budik's fourth consecutive game with a goal.

Just 58 seconds later, Max Martin unleashed a blast from the point that got past Flodell, giving the Raiders a 3-1 advantage.

Three minutes later, Cole Fonstad got in on the action. He jumped on a loose puck around the faceoff circle and snapped it over a prone Flodell, rounding out the scoring at 4-1.

Ian Scott returned to the crease after being pulled on Friday night in Swift Current. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick responded with a 25-save performance, including a highlight-reel toe save in the opening frame. Flodell finished the game with 31 saves for the Hurricanes.
