
Three Added, One Released from Training Camp

BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today the additions of defenseman Austin Miller, goaltender Greg Gardner and center Jarrett Gibbons. Goaltender Sean Varriale (VAIR-ee-AL-ee) was released.
Miller, 24, re-signed with Mississippi on August 21. He attended the training camp of the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. Last year, Miller finished his senior year at Western Michigan University before playing the final 10 games of the regular season with the Sea Wolves. He picked up three assists and 16 penalty minutes for Mississippi and is still considered a rookie. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Vestal, New York also played all 10 games in the playoffs, registering two assists and 10 penalty minutes.
Gardner, 26, signed a one-year contract with Mississippi. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario split last season between the Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League and Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. He suited up in 16 games with Dayton, posting a record of 11-4-1, 2.67 goals against average and .903 save percentage along with one shutout. For Syracuse, Gardner appeared in 18 games, registering a 7-6-3 record, 2.48 goals against average and .923 save percentage.
Gibbons, 21, signed a one-year contract with the Sea Wolves. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound native of Stittsville, Ontario attended the training camp in Binghamton of the AHL. Gibbons did not play hockey last year. Two seasons ago, he played 17 games with Wayne State of College Hockey America scoring four goals and three assists to go along with 41 penalty minutes.
Mississippi opens the season at Baton Rouge on Saturday, October 12. The puck drops at the Riverside Centroplex at 7:05 p.m.
The Sea Wolves home opener is at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson.
