Thorpe Stellar in Shutout Win

July 27, 2018 - Southern League (SL1)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

Chattanooga Lookouts starting pitcher Lewis Thorpe threw 4.2 hitless innings to lead the home team to the 5-0 shutout win over the Pensacola BlueWahoos in front of a crowd of 4,142.

Thorpe was lights out the entire night, retiring the first 11 batters he faced before an error in the fourth inning. The southpaw surrenderd his first hit of the night to Tyler Featherston in the fifth. Thorpe finished the night striking out seven batters in seven innings while only allowing two hits.

Chattanooga provided plenty of offensive support for their starter. For the third time this series Lookouts slugger Brent Rooker launched a first inning home run. He now has 20 homers on the year and is 11 away from tieing Adam Brett Walker's team record of 31 set in 2015. They added four more runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Alex Perez and a Jimmy Kerrigan RBI single.

Tonight's shutout win was the team's first since May 29th against the Birmingham Barons.

Tomorrow, the team leaves to take on the Tennessee Smokies for five games. Chattanooga returns home on August 2nd for 10 home games in 11 days. To get tickets for next homestand, including Used Car Night on August 4th call the Lookouts ticket office at 423-267-4849.
