Mobile BayBears News Release

PEARL, Miss. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, plated a run in the top of the ninth inning to win the series finale 3-2 over the Mississippi Braves Friday night at Trustmark Park.

After a pair of singles, Sherman Johnson broke a 2-2 tie with a one-out double down the right field line. It was the first run Corbin Clouse (4-2) had surrendered in his last 9 2/3 innings pitched.

Joe Gatto gave up two runs on five hits in six innings pitched. It was the first time the BayBears (51-51 overall, 14-20 second half) have recorded quality starts in three consecutive games this season. Zac Ryan (1-1) earned the win with two scoreless frames of relief, and Matt Custred got the final two outs for his seventh save.

Zach Gibbons got Mobile on the board early with a two-run homer, his third of the year, in the top of the second. The Braves (46-58, 17-17) tied the game with runs in each of the next two innings.

The BayBears have won all seven series against Mississippi as an Angels affiliate.
