SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Trailing 1-0 in the final minutes of the game, Reyna Reyes scored her first professional goal in the 90th minute to help Portland Thorns FC earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against San Diego Wave FC on Friday night. Sam Coffey notched the assist - her fourth assist of the season.

Late-Game Comebacks

Portland scored its sixth goal after the 75th minute this season, which is the most in the league. Notably, four of those goals have come after the 75th minute in road games. It was also the team's third game-tying goal after the 80th minute. Reyes' goal is the second game-tying goal for Portland in the 90th minute or later this season. The latest goal was scored by Bella Bixby in the 97th minute in a 3-3 draw at home against Angel City on April 29.

Spreading the Wealth

In total, 12 different players have scored a goal this season for Thorns FC, which is the most of any team in the league. Additionally, three defenders have scored goals for Portland with all of those coming in the last two games. Notably, Portland has had at least 10 different goal scorers in each of the last four regular seasons. In the last six games, nine different players have scored a goal for Thorns FC.

Setting the Table

Coffey tallied her fourth assist of the season in the match, delivering the ball on Reyes' game-tying goal. The Portland midfielder finishes with a game-high four chances created. Coffey has three assists in her last two games for Portland. Her four assists rank as the second-most in the NWSL this season, while she also ranks second in the league in chances created (20) after tonight's match.

Goal-Scoring Plays

SD - Sofia Jakobsson, 86th minute: Jadeyn Shaw played a ball into space in behind the Portland backline. Jakobsson ran into the space near the edge of the box. Thorns FC goalkeeper Bella Bixby came off her line and made the initial save, but Jakobsson stayed with the play and converted into the open net.

POR - Reyna Reyes (Sam Coffey), 90th minute: Off a corner kick, Sam Coffey served the ball to the back post and Reyna Reyes jumped, sending a looping header back across the goal and inside the right post.

Notes:

Reyna Reyes scored her first professional goal in her second career NWSL start.

Reyes' equalizing goal came on the team's 61st touch in the box, the most in a regular season match since 2018 (North Carolina - 67 vs Red Stars).

Reyes is the 12th player to score a goal for Portland and the third defender to tally a goal in 2023.

Portland has had at least 10 different goal scorers in each of the last four regular seasons.

Thorns FC attempted 28 shots in the game - the most shots by an NWSL team in a game this season. It was just one short of tying the single-game record for shots (29) set against the Kansas City Current in 2022.

Tonight's game marked the fifth time this season Portland has registered 20 or more shots in a match.

Portland has stopped its opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 6 of its 9 games, only San Diego (7) have done this more often in league play.

Portland has scored in its last 14 regular season games, tallying 35 goals during that span.

Thorns FC have scored in all nine of their regular season games - the only NWSL to do so this season.

Portland's six goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season are the most by any team in the league.

Sam Coffey recorded her fourth assist of the season, which ranks as the second-most in the NWSL.

Coffey finished the match with four chances created, which was a game high. She currently ranks second in the league in chances created (20) this season.

Bella Bixby is the only player to play every minute for Thorns FC through their first nine matches.

Next Game

Facing a quick turnaround, Portland plays host to Angel City FC in the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup on Wednesday, May 31, at Providence Park. The May 31 match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Paramount+.
