
Thomson Signs with Texas Stars

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday that 2002-born goaltender Bryan Thomson has signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Thomson, 21, was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the second-round (37th overall) in the 2017 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. In his five-year career with the 'Canes, Thomson appeared in 117 games players posting a record of 59-42-4-2 while collecting a 3.06 goals against average (GAA), a .901 save percentage (SV%) and five shutouts. He finished second all-time in victories (59) in Hurricanes history while finishing fifth all-time in games played by a goaltender (117).
The Moose Jaw, SK, product appeared in 24 games during the 2022-2023 season after recovering from off-season hip surgery where he posted a 13-8-1-1 record with a 2.64 GAA and a .919 SV% with three shutouts. Thomson posted a 3.61 GAA and a .887 SV% in three starts during the 2023 WHL Playoffs.
The 6 '4, 200-pound netminder was named the recipient of the Joan Kobal Memorial Award for perseverance, dedication, and sportsmanship during the 2023 season. In his career, he was also named the co-winner of the 2022 Herman Elfring Community Relations Award.
Thomson has reported to Texas to join the Stars for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
