Pats Drop Game Seven, 4-1

Saskatoon, Sask. - The Saskatoon Blades defeated the Regina Pats 4-1 in game seven of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals on Monday inside the SaskTel Centre.

The Pats season comes to a close following an impressive battle against the Blades who finished with 101 points, recording the fourth most number of points in the WHL.

The Blades got goals from Spencer Shugrue, Jake Chiasson, Vaughn Watterodt and Trevor Wong in the victory, as they move onto the second round where they will play the Red Deer Rebels. Meanwhile, the Pats got their only goal from Stanislav Svozil in the loss.

First Period

No scoring.

Second Period

SAS 0-1 at 19:46- Spencer Shugrue (1) assisted by Brandon Lisowsky and Egor Sidorov // After the Pats had a scoring chance, the Blades came back on an odd-man rush where Shugrue got behind the defence and tipped the puck past the Pats netminder to give the Blades a 1-0 lead late on the middle frame.

Third Period

SAS 0-2 at 7:56 - Jake Chiasson (2) unassisted // On an odd-man rush, Chiasson fired a shot through Sim to give the Blades a 2-0 lead midway through the final period.

REG 1-2 at 13:10 - Stanislav Svozil (4) assisted by Connor Bedard and Tanner Brown // The Pats got the puck on the net and after it bounced around and off multiple players it bounced in and Svozil got credit on the 2-1.

SAS 1-3 at 17:50 - Vaughn Watterodt (3) assisted by Lukas Hansen // The Pats turned the puck over in the neutral zone and Watterodt sniped it past Sim to extend the lead to 3-1.

SAS 1-4 at 18:11 - Trevor Wong (3) unassisted (EN) // Wong hit the empty net to seal the contest at 4-1.

NOTES

Connor Bedard picked up an assist to give him 20 points (10G-10A) in the seven-game series.

Stanislav Svozil scored his fourth goal of the playoffs which increased his point total to 13 points (4G-9A) in the playoffs.

Overagers Tanner Brown, Luke Bateman and Riley Ginnell played their final game in the WHL.
