Vikman Signs with Golden Knights
April 11, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Vegas Golden Knights announced the signing of Giants goaltender Jesper Vikman to his Entry Level Contract Monday, after announcing that he signed a Professional Tryout Agreement with the Henderson Silver Knights on Sunday. His PTO extends until the end of this season, so his entry level deal won't kick in until next season.
Vikman, named the BC Division's First Team All-Star Goaltender for 2022/23, ended his Western Hockey League career with an outstanding 62 save effort against the Kamloops Blazers on Thursday night. The Swede was named a finalist for the Del Wilson memorial Trophy as the WHL's top goaltender this morning. He finished up his time with the Giants with a total record of 36-36-3, along with a 3.19 GAA and 0.903 sv%. Vikman is the third consecutive starting netminder for the Giants to sign an NHL contract.
"Jesper has been an integral part of the team's success ever since he arrived in Vancouver. He has been a leader both on and off the ice, and his experience and dedication were evident in every game," says Giants Head Coach Michael Dyck. "We're thrilled to see Jesper take the next step in his career and sign a professional contract. It's a testament to his hard work and perseverance and we wish him all the best in this new chapter of his hockey journey."
