May 18, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The New York Yankees have announced the following minor league roster moves affecting the Charleston RiverDogs:
- OF Dom Thompson-Williams - Transferred Charleston to High-A Tampa
- RHP Brian Trieglaff - Transferred Charleston to High-A Tampa
- OF Carlos Vidal - Reinstated from Tampa 7-Day Disabled List, Transferred Tampa to Charleston
- RHP Jio Orozco - Transferred Extended to Charleston
Thompson-Williams, 23, becomes the first Charleston position player called up to Tampa after crushing the ball in a dominant series in Hagerstown. The former University of South Carolina standout went 7-for-11 with five home runs and nine RBI in his last three games of the road trip before going 1-for-4 in Thursday's homestand opener at The Joe. The Iowa native moves up quickly to the Florida State League after hitting .378 (14-for-37) in just 10 games with Charleston due to a stint on the disabled list.
Trieglaff, 23, becomes the fourth RiverDogs arm to garner promotion this year. The former TCU Horned Frog struck out 18 batters without a walk in eight relief appearances spanning 19 innings to open the year with the Dogs. He posted a 2.08 ERA with four runs (two earned) allowed.
Vidal and Orozco each return after previous stints in the Lowcountry. The Colombian outfielder Vidal, 22, batted .308 (78-for-253) while posting a .359 on-base percentage and one home run in 69 games with Charleston last season, and touched off for the RiverDogs' lone postseason blast in game one of the SAL Division Series. A 20-year-old product from Tucson, Arizona, Orozco made 12 starts for Class A Charleston last year while posting a 4.95 ERA with 38 strikeouts to 34 walks in 56-plus innings.
Charleston (17-22) continues a four-game homestand, facing the Columbia Fireflies at 7:05 p.m. on Friday night. For those that can't make it out to the park, the game will be broadcast on WTMA 1250 AM and online streaming at riverdogs.com and the RiverDogs TuneIn radio station.
RiverDogs single-game tickets are now available for the 2018 campaign, the club's 25th season as the RiverDogs and their "175th season in dog years." Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com/tickets.
