
GreenJackets Win Another Close One

Greenville, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 2-1 against the Greenville Drive on Friday night.
The pitching was once again the story in game two of the series. Both teams only combined for 10 hits, five coming from each team. The GreenJackets starter, Jason Bahr, was lights out on the mound. He pitched six innings, giving up five hits and one run. Most impressive, he struck out 11 batters. This now puts him in first in the South Atlantic League with 60 strikeouts on the season. Bahr earned his fourth win of the season.
Ryan Koziol pitched the seventh inning and earned his first hold as a GreenJacket. Then Franklin Van Gurp came out for the six-out save. He had no issues over the two innings and earned his fourth save of the season.
At the plate, two big hits were all the GreenJackets needed. In the second inning, Ryan Kirby hit a 411 ft solo home run over the right field foul pole. Then in the seventh inning, Orlando Garcia had a lead off double that eventually lead him to score on a wild pitch.
The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:05 pm as they face the Drive for game three of a four game series.
The GreenJackets will be back at SRP Park starting the May 21st against the Charleston Riverdogs! Bring your furry friends for the first bark in the park! On the 22nd, we will have baseball bingo and a Senior Health Expo! The next night, will have Hump Day Happy Hour and Big Beers, Brats, and BBQ presented by Maurice's Piggy Park. On the 24th, will Thirsty Thursday and a tribute to teachers!
After the series with Charleston, the GreenJackets will have a four game series with the Rome Braves. May 25th, we will have our halfway to Halloween celebration! On the 26th, will we have the human cannonball shot off before the game. On the 27th, we will have our Mega Memorial Day Fireworks display. On the 28th, we have our Mega Memorial Day Bash! Come out and join us for this awesome 8 game homestand!
