May 18, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - For the second consecutive night at Fluor Field, the Greenville Drive and the Augusta GreenJackets faced off in a pitcher's duel that was eventually won by the GreenJackets 2-1.
Falling rain throughout the night couldn't stop both sets of pitchers from dominating the opposing offenses, as the teams combined for 28 strikeouts.
Drive (10-30) starter Enmanuel De Jesus set a career-high with 10 strikeouts over six innings. The southpaw allowed just one run on three hits and one walk. His lone mistake was a solo homer by Augusta (25-14) first baseman Ryan Kirby in the second inning.
On the other side, Jason Bahr (4-2) struck out 11 Drive hitters in six innings.
Three consecutive Drive hits in the fifth by Ricardo Cubillan, Samuel Miranda and Lorenzo Cedrola tied the game at one in the fifth. The RBI single by Cedrola was his third hit of the game.
The GreenJackets took a 2-1 lead in the seventh against Marcos Lantigua (0-4) as Orlando Garcia led off the inning with a double and came home on a wild pitch.
Franklin Van Gurp recorded his fourth save with a scoreless ninth inning.
Game three of the series between the two teams is at 7:05 PM on Saturday at Fluor Field. The pitching matchup features Drive left-hander Jhonathan Diaz (1-2, 4.03) against GreenJackets right-hander Garrett Cave (1-1, 4.05).
