Game Notes:

Cats begin 09 with win

The Moncton Wildcats started the New Year in the same way they ended 2008, with a win over the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Dogs struck first at 8:20 of the first on Joshua Schram's goal. Pierre-Marc Lessard tied at 10:26, then 29 seconds later the Wildcats took the lead on Matt Brown's 15th of the season.

In the middle period, Ryan Sparling evened the game for Saint John at 5:33. Moncton jumped back in the lead at 11:16 with a power-play goal from Randy Cameron. Scott Brannon upped the count to 4-2 with his team leading 21st of the year, another power-play counter. Shea Kewin got the Sea Dogs close at 16:35. The period ended with a one goal lead for Moncton.

Matt Brown scored his second of the night at 8:50 of the final frame insuring the Wildcats 5-3 victory.

Shots on goal were 31-30 for Moncton. On the power-play the Wildcats were 3 for 5 while the Sea Dogs were 1 for 5.

The games three stars were Ryan Sparling of Saint John, third, Scott Brannon of the Wildcats second and Matt Brown, with a 3 point night, first star.

On the Road - January 4th

The Wildcats, leaders in the Atlantic Division of the Q, and the fourth place Acadie-Bathurst Titan compete on Sunday night. Catch all of the game action with the voice of the Wildcats Gerry Green on News 91.9 beginning at 4pm and you can watch the Telus webcast of the game by logging on to the Wildcats website.

At Home - January 6th

Your Wildcats take to home ice Tuesday against the PEI Rocket. The Wildcats are 5 - 0 this season against the fifth place Rocket. This is a season ticket holder redemption night. Bring your unused season tickets to the box office to redeem them for any empty seat in the building. The game sponsor is CCA. Fans will have a chance to try to roll a tire to win a great CCA prize.

At Home -January 9th

The Wildcats game on January 9 against the Gatineau Olympic is Support the Troops night. Over 400 members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be in attendance. There will be a special pre-game ceremony to recognize and honour members of the armed forces. Fans are asked to show their support by wearing red to the game.

You and the Cats:

Join the entire Wildcats team this Saturday January 3rd at McDonalds on West Main Street. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the players will be on-hand for autographs and pictures.

You'll want to get your Wildcats hockey cards for this season; they're now available at the Roar Store in the Coliseum or at your favorite McDonald's in Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe.

Any of your children have a birthday coming up soon? Then have them celebrate with the Wildcats. Packages are available at the Fan Service Centre or by calling 382-5555.

The game on Sunday, January 11th against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan is Spirit of Tomar family pack day.
