DUBUQUE, Iowa - Winners of five games in a row, the Dubuque Fighting Saints (5-2-0) head back to the ice this weekend for a pair of tilts against the Cedar Rapids Roughriders (4-1-0). The match up pits a pair of rivals whose records place them at or near the top of their respective USHL conferences - the Saints are tied for first in the West and the Roughriders are one point out of first in the East with games in hand over Green Bay. Friday's game in Cedar Rapids will start at 7:15, and the puck drops at the Mystique Community Ice Center on Saturday night at 7:00.

On Saturday night, the action shifts back to the Key City for game two of the series. The Fighting Saints swept the opening weekend at the Mystique Community Ice Center to stretch their winning streak to five and retain their position atop the Western Conference standings. The Saints defeated the Omaha Lancers on Friday night by a score of 4-1 before a sold out crowd, and they dispatched the Youngstown Phantoms on Saturday evening by the same margin. John Gaudreau scored a hat trick for the Fighting Saints on Saturday night, and Brooks Bertsch added early first period tallies each night for his hometown team. Joakim Ryan, who tallied three assists on the weekend and finished with a plus-minus rating of plus two, was named the USHL's Defensive Player of the Week. It was the second week in a row that a Fighting Saint was honored as a USHL Player of the Week, with Vinny Saponari taking Offensive Player of the Week honors last week. Three of the Fighting Saints' players - Zemgus Girgensons, Vinny Saponari, and John Gaudreau rank in the top ten in scoring in the USHL.
