The Everett Silvertips are on the brink of clinching a playoff spot for the 2nd season in a row as they battle the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Currently the Silvertips are in 3rd place in the U.S. Division with a record of 29-25-8-2 (68 points).

WHO'S HOT

Alex Leavitt (16 goals, 38 assists) continues to lead the Silvertips in scoring with 54 points. Leavitt also leads the hockey club with 38 assists. Torrie Wheat (22 goals, 27 assists) is 2nd on the Silvertips in scoring with 49 points. Wheat also leads the hockey club with 22 goals this season. Shaun Heshka (11 goals, 24 assists) leads all Silvertips defenseman with 35 points. First year forward Zach Hamill (8 goals, 22 assists) is currently 4th on the Silvertips in scoring with 30 points. Hamill is also tied for 8th in rookie scoring in the WHL and the top 16 year old scorer in the WHL. In goal, Michael Wall is currently 5th in the WHL in Goals Against Average (1.95), 3rd in Save Percentage (.929), 2nd in Shutouts (10), and 11th in Wins (21). Rookie netminder Leland Irving has also posted quality numbers this season. Irving has compiled an 8-7-1 record with a 1.84 Goals Against Average and a Save Percentage of .926. Irving also has recorded 2 shutouts this season.

THE SASKATCHEWAN IRONMEN

Melville, Saskatchewan native Shaun Heshka and Kelvington, Saskatchewan resident Ryan Blatchford have played in all 64 games this season.

SILVERTIPS SPECIAL TEAMS

The Silvertips are currently tied for 7th in the WHL on the power play (62 for 339, 18.3%) and 1st in the WHL on the penalty kill (217 for 245, 88.6%).

SILVERTIPS AND THE COMMUNITY

The Everett Silvertips took time last week to spend time with the community. Mitch Love and Michael Wall spent time at Marysville Middle School and spoke to the students about setting goals and teamwork. Silvertips forward Mark Kress along with Silvertips VP/General Manger Doug Soetaert presented a check of $10,487.50 to the Flynn Cancer Center at Providence Medical Center in Everett. The Everett Silvertips have also teamed up with the Children's Hope with a Heart Guild in the annual Hope with a Heart Ice Show on Saturday, March 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hope With A Heart (www.hopewithaheart.org), is an award-winning, one-of-a-kind event founded for the purpose of raising funds for Children's Hospital to cover uncompensated care. The event invites today's top figure skating stars to perform in tandem with the sport's stars of tomorrow—the youth of the participating skating clubs. In only its second year, the guild has made numerous significant contributions to Children's Hospital.

Tickets for the March 12th Hope With A Heart ice show are on sale now by visiting the ‘Tips Site at: www.everettsilvertips.com, or by visiting the Hope With A Heart table located on the concourse across from the Silvertips chuck-a-puck table for the remaining games until the show. Prices for the third-annual event will be $9.00 for those 10 years-of-age and younger and for those over 65. Adult tickets are available for $15.00. Tickets are also available in person by visiting the Everett Events Center box office. It is also possible to buy blocks of tickets to be donated. Along with the ice show the Silvertips had a chance to visit Children's Hospital in Seattle. Mitch Love, Cody Thoring and Lincoln made an appearance last week to visit the patients at Children's.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS RINKSIDE DAILY ON EVERETT TV CHANNEL 21 The Silvertips have teamed up with the Everett's government access Channel 21 to bring you game updates, team news and interviews with coaches and players. Join host Keith Gerhart with Everett Silvertips Rinkside everyday at 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. and 5:00P.M.and 9:00 p.m.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS HOCKEY SHOW TONIGHT Tonight will be another edition of the Everett Silvertips Hockey Show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on North Sound 1380 ESPN Radio. Keith Gerhart will have many guests from the Silvertips and the WHL. This evening's guest will be Head Coach Kevin Constantine. Calls are welcome from fans as well.
