DALLAS, TEXAS - This Is Project Texas today announced the nonprofit has been selected by the WNBA Dallas Wings as the official local nonprofit partner. This year, the Commissioner's Cup presented by Coinbase will feature a new platform through where the league, WNBA teams, and the WNBPA will provide funding to local nonprofits, and will implement a series of activations and initiatives that will encourage active participation in the civic process - including voter education, registration, and long-term engagement.

"This Is Project Texas is honored and proud to have been selected by the WNBA team Dallas Wings as the local nonprofit partner, "said Kendall Hill, President and CEO of This Is Project Texas. "Our number one goal is to advance equity for all Texans by transforming the culture of Civic Responsibility. We view this opportunity with the WNBA Dallas Wings, especially ahead of important midterm elections, as a strategic engagement approach that will broaden the impact of This Is Project Texas, continue to modernize the civic engagement culture in Texas, and positively benefit the Dallas Fort Worth area."

The WNBA was called "the most socially progressive pro league" in 2020 by the New York Times. The WNBA will donate $2,000 to each cup game's winning team's chosen organization and an additional $500 to the losing team's chosen organization. To spotlight the Championship Game for the Commissioner's Cup, the league will donate $10,000 to the winning team's chosen organization and $5,000 to the organization of the runner-up. The first Commissioner's Cup home-game for the Dallas Wings will be Saturday, May 21.
