THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT...

The Rochester Americans are currently 1st overall in the American Hockey League with 108 points and have a 49-16-4-6 record... The Americans are 4-5-0- 1 in their last 10 games and have the best road record in the league at 22-9-1-4... Rochester is ranked 4th while on the powerplay at 18.1% and are 6th while killing penalties at 87%... C Chris Taylor leads the team with 72 points (21G,51A) in 75 games this season... Goaltender Ryan Miller leads the AHL with a 39-16-4 record, a league leading eight shutouts, a 2.40 GAA and a .924 save percentage... LW Thomas Vanek has 13 points including 10 goals in his last 10 games... The Leafs are 1-5 against the Americans this season.

The Edmonton Roadrunners are currently 6th in the North Division with 76 points and have a 31-31-4-10 record... The Roadrunners are 3-7-0-0 in their last 10 games and are 12-17-4-5 on the road this season... Edmonton is ranked 18th while on the powerplay at 14.8% and are 8th while killing penalties at 86.4%... RW Tony Salmelainen leads the team with 45 points (22G,23A) in 72 games this season... Goaltender Tyler Moss has an 24-18-4 record, five shutouts, a 2.63 GAA and a .906 save percentage... C Mike Bishia has eight points (3G,5A) in his last 10 games... The Maple Leafs are 9-1-0-0 against the Roadrunners this season.

- St. John's will host the Rochester Americans this Monday and Wednesday and close out the regular season this weekend with two games against Edmonton.

- St. John's sophmore sensation Kyle Wellwood is currently ranked 4th in AHL scoring with 82 points (34G,48A) in 76 games.

- The Maple Leafs will give out their Year End Awards in a pregame ceremony this Friday, April 15th.

- The Maple Leafs returned to St.John's from their final road trip of the season and posted a 4-3-0-1 record. The team finished the regular season with an 18-19-1-2 road record.

- The baby Leafs will need to split their remaining four games to equal their all-time win total (45) in a season. St. John's currently has 43 wins.

- Former St. John's Maple Leaf Yanic Perreault holds the franchise record with 36 post-season games played. Perreault also holds the franchise record for post season points with 45 (26G,19A).

- The Maple Leafs "Final Game" will be the team's 1,100 regular season game in 14 years. The Maple Leafs will have qualified for the playoffs 11 out of its 14 seasons in the AHL.

2006 ALL-STAR CLASSIC HEADS TO WINNIPEG...

American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced that the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic will take place on Tuesday, January 31, and Wednesday, February 1, at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Man. The formal announcement was made at a media conference at the MTS Centre today.

"We have been eagerly anticipating the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic since awarding it to the Manitoba Moose and the city of Winnipeg last year," said Andrews. "The American Hockey League is proud to be bringing our annual showcase event to one of the premier hockey cities and venues in North America."

The MTS Centre opened its doors in November 2004 and has immediately been recognized as one of the finest event facilities in Canada. The Moose have sold out the building 18 times with seating capped at 8,812 for regular-season games; capacity can be expanded to more than 15,000.

AHL FRED T. HUNT AWARD...

The American Hockey League announced that Chris Taylor of the Rochester Americans has been named the 2004-05 winner of the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award as the AHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, determination and dedication to hockey. The award is voted on by players and members of the media in each of the league's 28 cities. The 33-year-old Taylor is completing his 13th professional season, and sixth with the Americans. The Rochester captain currently leads the team with 70 points on 20 goals and 50 assists, along with just 42 penalty minutes, while skating in all 73 games for the Amerks. Recognized as one of the top two-way forwards in the league, Taylor has continued to climb Rochester's franchise leaderboard, currently ranking eighth all-time with 220 assists and 10th with 323 points in 329 games in an Amerks uniform.

Originally a second-round draft choice by the New York Islanders in 1990, Taylor has totaled 128 goals and 274 assists for 402 points in 427 career AHL games with Rochester, Providence and Capital District.

THIS WEEK IN LEAFS HISTORY...

April 16, 1992 - Rob Cimetta's goal just 49 seconds into overtime at Memorial Stadium gives the Leafs a 3-2 victory that eliminates the Oilers in five games and sends St. John's to the Atlantic division final against the Moncton Hawks.

April 10, 1992 - Kent Manderville in his St. John's debut, scores his first professional goal and sets up four others to lead the Leafs to a 9-5 victory over Cape Breton and even the series at one game apiece .

April 14, 1992 - With his parents racing to North Sydney to catch a ferry to Port aux Basques, Corner Brook native Todd Gillingham scores the winner at the 57 second mark of overtime to give the Leafs another 5-4 win over the Oilers, and a commanding 3-1 lead in the best of seven semi-final.
