Salem-Keizer Volcanoes News Release

KEIZER, OREGON -- Your Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, fielding arguably their strongest team of the decade, are thrilled to confirm that Saturday, July 27 is Pat Casey Day at Volcanoes Stadium. This memorable event will provide fans a chance to share the day with the three-time National Champion coach and his family.

"We are honored and excited to welcome Coach Casey to Volcanoes Stadium, for many reasons, and the obvious one is his three National Championships at the helm of the Oregon State Beavers. If you look at the legacy of baseball in this area, you have the Beavers, the Volcanoes have five Northwest League championships, and our alumni directly helped win three World Championships with the San Francisco Giants. So plenty of hardware there," said Jerry Walker, Volcanoes Co-Owner. "But honestly, what impresses Lisa (Walker) and I the most is how Coach Casey built his programs: With honor, integrity and community. Those are the core values also of the Volcanoes and is what will make Coach Casey Day all the more special.

Coach Casey's resume was so impressive, it literally would have run three pages on the Volcanoes website, Mitche Graf, Volcanoes President, said with a smile.

"The Volcanoes are firmly focused on a six-star experience on the field and in Volcanoes Stadium this year, and Coach Casey is a six-star, collegiate legend of a coach," Graf said. "Working in the Giants system, we see so much talent, so many legends. I have to say though, Coach Casey is literally one of those legends who makes us all pause with gratitude with the opportunity to meet and spend time with. If you love baseball, and specifically Pacific Northwest championship baseball, this is an event you and your loved ones simply need to attend."

In 2010, Coach Casey and his wife, Susan, were recipients of the Nell and John Wooden Coaching Achievement Award. The honor goes to a head coach and his spouse for their dedication to success on the field and in making an impact on the lives of their players.

In addition to this historic recognition, Coach Casey's resume includes:

- 900-458-6 in his 24 seasons at Oregon State, recording a .662 winning percentage.

- All-time, as a collegiate head coach, Casey's teams have gone 1,071-572-7 (.651). He went 171-114-1 (.600) in seven seasons at Division III George Fox.

- Casey's 900 wins at Oregon State ranks sixth all-time in Pac-12 Conference history.

- Since coming to Oregon State prior to the 1995 season, Casey's teams have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 times, including a school-record seven straight appearances from 2009-2015.

- The Beavers became just the fifth program in NCAA history to win back-to-back NCAA titles when Oregon State defeated North Carolina in 2006 and 2007.

- In winning the 2006 title, Oregon State became the first "Northern" school to win an NCAA Championship in decades.

- Casey has been honored nationally multiple times, being named the National Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2017 and 2018 and the Co-Coach of the Year in 2005.
