
The long-ball blasts Reading to win over Rock Cats

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils (38-54) got assistance from Ryan O'Sullivan and the home run ball as they defeated the New Britain Rock Cats (46-47) 6-4 on Sunday. Ryan O'Sullivan (3-5) threw his longest outing of the season as he went six innings and allowed two runs off four hits with three strikeouts in earning his third win. The Fightin Phils hit four home runs in a game for the first time since June 17th against Akron.
New Britain took an early 2-0 lead off Reading in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Stephen Wickens hit a RBI groundout and Jairo Rodriguez added a RBI single off Ryan O'Sullivan. Logan Moore tied the game off starter Jason Wheeler in the top of the 4th inning with a two-run home run to score Brock Stassi.
Jake Fox gave the Fightin Phils a 3-2 lead off Jason Wheeler in the top of the 5th inning as he hit a solo home run, his eighth of the season. After a one-out single from KC Serna who then moved to second base on a balk by Wheeler, Brock Stassi hit a two-run home run to give the Fightins a 5-2 lead. The home run by Stassi was his seventh on the season.
Aaron Altherr extended the Fightins lead to 6-2 in the top of the 7th inning as he hit a solo home run off reliever Dan Turpen. The home run was Altherr's seventh home run on the season. New Britain scored a run off reliever Perci Garner in the bottom of the 7th inning as Lance Ray hit a sacrifice fly to score Tony Thomas and cut the Fightins lead to three runs, 6-3.
Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a RBI double off reliever Mike Nesseth in the bottom of the 8th inning to cut into the Fightins lead more as he made it 6-4. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez retired the side in the bottom of the 9th inning to earn his second save.
The Fightin Phils and New Britain Rock Cats wrap up their series tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 pm from New Britain Stadium. Adam Loewen (1-2, 4.14 ERA) makes the start for Reading.
