The Diablos snap a five game skid and win 11-3

Josh Neitz threw seven quality innings as the El Paso Diablos snapped a five-game losing streak and defeated the Pensacola Pelicans 11-3 on Friday night from Cohen Stadium.

The Pensacola Pelicans jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Brandon Sing blasted a solo homer to left field off of Josh Neitz for the 1-0 lead.

The Diablos had an explosive bottom of the third inning. Jorge Alvarez belted a three-run homer and Bryon Smith had a run scoring double giving El Paso a 4-1 edge.

El Paso stretched the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The newest Diablo Bryan Cooksey lined a single up the middle plating Evan Conley. El Paso made it a 7-1 contest in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gus Marquetti walked four Diablos, including two with the bases loaded scoring a pair.

The Diablos pieced together two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Bryan Cooksey, lined a two-RBI single up the middle making it a 9-1 game. El Paso added a pair of runs in the eighth inning on an Evan Conley two-RBI double.

Evan Conley went 4-5 with two RBI's and Bryan Cooksey went 3-3 with three RBI's in the contest for El Paso.

Josh Neitz (2-3) is the winner, he threw seven full allowing just one run off of four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. The seven strikeouts are a season high for a Diablos pitcher.

Dane DeValk (1-1) takes the loss, he tossed five innings allowing five earned runs off of eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

B.J Litchfield threw a scoreless inning of relief for El Paso.

The Diablos will take on the Pelicans in the second game of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. Beau Hintz will take the hill for El Paso against Chris Rickey of Pensacola. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
