The Wichita Wingnuts had things pretty much under control the entire way, until the ninth inning that is, when the Sioux City Explorers nearly erased a three-run lead to pull off the upset. Instead Wichita closer Byron Embry held on for his seventh save of the season and the Wingnuts improved to 14-8 in the process. Wichita starting pitcher Justin Young had a great outing, allowing just five hits and striking out four in 6 2/3 shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. Wingnuts 2B Brenan Herrera led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Grand Prairie 6, Fort Worth 4

@ Fort Worth, TX. Time: 2:40 Attendance: 5,433

Trailing 4-0 after four innings the Grand Prairie AirHogs clawed at the lead slowly, but surely, scoring two runs in the fifth, two more in the seventh and another pair in the ninth to eek out a win on the road. Grand Prairie 2B Brandon Carter and SS Paul Bartolucci each had a pair of hits and three RBI to lead the way offensively. AirHogs reliever Vinny DeChristofaro picked up his first win, thanks to a scoreless eighth inning in which he struck out one. Grand Prairie closer James Morrison picked up his fourth save of the season after striking out two in a scoreless ninth.

Sioux Falls 13, Lincoln 4

@ Sioux Falls, SD. Time: 3:00 Attendance: 3,306

The Sioux Falls Canaries tore the cover off the ball in a rout of Lincoln at home. The Canaries came up with 18 hits as a team, led by LF Will Smith, who was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. DH Beau Torbert also had a nice game, going 3-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBI. It was certainly a game where hits weren't hard to find, as there were a total of 30 in the contest. Sioux Falls RF Ben Van Iderstine was in on the action as well. He was 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Canaries starting pitcher Pat Mahomes allowed 10 hits, but just three runs, two earned, en route to his fifth win of the year.

Shreveport 11, St. Paul 2

@ Shreveport, LA. Time: 2:40 Attendance: 1,579

The Shreveport Sports found themselves in an early hole, trailing 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but rallied to plate six runs in the third and never looked back, coasting to an easy win. Shreveport starting pitcher Daniel Welch was great, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits while striking out six in the complete game victory. The win was Welch's first of the season. He got plenty of offense in support of him, too. The Sports tallied 16 hits in the game, led by C Tommy Bryant who was 3-for-5 and finished a double short of the cycle. He scored three runs and drove in three to lead all hitters.
